CURRY Scan 7 Neuroimaging Suite

For more than 25 years, Neuroscan has developed and provided world class tools for EEG data processing and signal analysis. The SCAN software has served as the primary tool for EEG applications in more than 3000 labs around the world. While SCAN has seen many updates throughout the years and still maintains a leading position in data acquisition and processing software, the time has come for a significant change in the way we think about data processing and analysis.

This change is the new CURRY® Neuroimaging Suite. The CURRY® Neuroimaging Suite replaces the SCAN software as our acquisition and data processing software. The history of the CURRY software itself is well known. Throughout the world, CURRY has the well deserved reputation as the most advanced and comprehensive tool for Multimodal Neuroimaging. CURRY’s strength has always been centered on combining functional data such as EEG and MEG with imaging data from MRI and CT to optimize source reconstruction. Now we are combining CURRY’s strength with the acquisition and signal processing features of the SCAN software for a comprehensive EEG acquisition, data analysis, source localization and source imaging package.

The CURRY Neuroimaging Suite software is divided into a number of license modules that can stand alone or work together to maximize your labs' flexibility. Please see the License Information brochure for more complete details. Briefly, you can purchase licenses only for the modules you currently need, and add more later, if desired. If you have a SCAN Full license now, the comparable licenses in CURRY 7 include the Acquisition and Signal Processing modules. If you have CURRY 6, there is new functionality in CURRY 7.

Module Highlights

The ACQUIRE modulefunctions independently of any other licenses, allowing you to record data on one workstation and process data on another.

Highlights include:

  • EEG data acquisition with SynAmps2, SynAmps RT, SynAmps Wireless, NuAmps, Neuvo, Grael, Grael EEG, Siesta and E-Series amplifiers
  • Record up to 512 channels and sampling rates up to 20 kHz.
  • Configuration files that save the amplifier settings and visual layout
  • Parameter files that store the settings you generally use during acquisition
  • Impedance testingis available without interrupting data acquisition, and is provided in a simple visual display with values for each electrode.
  • Online data processing including DC offset removal, filtering, re-referencing, montage selection, artifact reduction, and more
  • Online averaging (and conditional averaging), FFT, wavelets, source reconstruction, and more

The SIGNAL PROCESSING license includes SCAN’s signal processing transforms as well as many more advanced signal processing tools based on CURRY’s more complex data processing module. Virtually, signal processing is performed “in place”, without the necessity of creating intermediary files. Functions of this module include all of the online features mentioned above including:

  • user-determined re-referencing
  • filtering
  • baseline correction
  • artifact reduction
  • averaging
  • noise estimation
  • PCA and ICA analysis
  • spectral analysis including wavelets
  • topographic mapping without or without Laplacian derivations,
  • sensor/electrode coherence
  • and much more.

The BASIC SOURCE AND IMAGE ANALYSIS license allows for import of structural data sets and provides dipole solutions based on spherical or the included averaged head models.

The BASIC AND ADVANCED SOURCE AND IMAGE ANALYSIS license incorporates all the functionality of the BASIC SOURCE ANALYSIS license, and adds current density and distributed source models to the source reconstruction tools. Highlights include:

  • Current density reconstruction functionality including LORETA, eLORETA, sLORETA, and SWARM.
  • Non-parametric topographical ANOVA and descriptive statistical analysis.
  • Source coherence analysis.
  • Imported structural and functional imaging data can be automatically segmented and used to compute source solutions based on individual head models.
  • DTI Fiber Track Imaging
  • Averaging MRI data files
  • Talairach coordinates and Atlas support

This license can also function independently for co-registration and segmentation of structural data including CT based grid localization and mapping onto MRI data.

All of the four principle modules include:

  • An optional Database structure to help with file organization
  • A Workflow display that assists in navigation to frequently used operations
  • The ability to save and selectively apply frequently used parameter settings
  • An Output display that summarizes actions and results
  • Logging options to record steps you have taken
  • Macros for automating analyses and creating interactive and tutorial programs
  • A Report form for storing results and graphics

The NETWORK licenseallows multiple computers to access a single license dongle and use any available CURRY Neuroimaging Suite module. A license dongle with all features can be shared over a local area network (LAN) and could then allow one computer to acquire data, another to conduct signal processing and a third to process structural data.

The MAINTENANCE license provides a simple and convenient way to ensure your CURRY Neuroimaging Suite maintenance is up to date. This includes access to online updates of the software, technical support, web tutorials and on-line training.
